BANK announces concurrently that a launch event for Liang Hao's new publication, Books on Books, will take place on June 13, 2026 at House of Books in Zurich. This coincides with Liang Hao's participation in Basel Social Club 2026, where his works will be on view as part of the fair's program.
The book is published by tria publishing platform and brings together 32 paintings by Liang Hao. In these works, the book appears both as a subject and as a medium. The images are inserted as loose reproductions into various donated blank volumes from other projects and are accompanied by a sheet of text in both English and Chinese, containing an essay by Anna-Viktoria Eschbach.
The volumes vary in size and thickness. Each is covered with an individually folded dust jacket, and each copy of Books on Books is unique. In Liang Hao's work, the book reappears not as a straightforward symbol of scholarship, but as a site where different artistic and cultural traditions intersect. The books are endowed with a tangible weight and presence, occupying space with a quiet gravity, while also carrying texts, memories, and exchanges that circulated within the artist's own community.
