Needless to say, much art has come, and not much of it has stayed. However, the art still worth collecting today is the art that means something to you, whether it comes from yesterday, today, or tomorrow. Art reflects life as a dynamic living organism and needs support through its many incarnations and forms. Collect art that speaks to you at any age, especially in the future.

This is a hard task as we are bringing over 30 objects. I would recommend these 3 objects made by women not only because they are more challenging than others but because they represent an interesting historical trajectory from the 1970s to the future.

Song Huai-Kuei, aka Madame Song’s Dark Side of the Moon, is one of this artist’s finest examples of fiber works made in Paris in the 1970s. It is a mystical and evocative wall hanging of a rugged, spotted terrain rendered in many different techniques and materials. Our presentation also coincides with Madame Song’s solo exhibition, which is currently at M+ in Hong Kong and has been seminal in reviving her legacy.

At nearly 70, Shi Hui, highly revered internationally as one of the seminal proponents of fiber art in China, is showing for the first time at Art Basel Hong Kong. Her frenetic Elemental Writing works show no signs of diminishing energy or loss of conceptual vigor. Shi Hui will also represent China at the upcoming Venice Biennale.

Lu Yang is only becoming more of an international superstar. This coming April, he will bring his dharma, technological prowess, and cyber-street aesthetics to a solo exhibition at the LV Foundation in Paris. To celebrate this, we are showing the DOKU - god version - Asura, a mesmerizing, ambient 3-D animated deity and probably one of the artist’s most consumable works.

Some of the young artists I would like to recommende admire are Zhang Yibei, Liang Hao and Wenjue. I have learned to stop having expectations; otherwise, I set myself up for suffering. However, given last year's success, I think this year will be, if not good for business, at least a good time! We also have one of the biggest booths we have ever had at an art fair and we’re hoping to gain some strategic experience for the future if not a lesson in scalability.
