"24 HOUR CARE"

BANK is pleased to share that artist Patty Chang, as a member of the artist collective FXR (Fac Xtra Retreat), has participated in the creation and performance of 24 HOUR CARE, presented at the Getty Center and extending to the Japan Pavilion at the 2026 Venice Biennale.

FXR is a collective of seven Los Angeles–based Asian American artists and educators, including Ei Arakawa-Nash, Patty Chang, Pearl C. Hsiung, Amanda Ross-Ho, Anna Sew Hoy, Shirley Tse, and Amy Yao. Their collaborative process draws from lived experiences as artists, teachers, parents, caregivers, and community members, reflecting on the time, intimacy, and vulnerability embedded in care labor.

24 HOUR CARE began with a closed retreat. On March 14, FXR members gathered with the Asian American Pacific Islander Artist Network for an internal retreat, sharing personal stories and experiences. That evening, the collective entered an all-night working session, transforming emerging themes and references directly into the evolving project. On March 15, they presented a day of public performances at the Getty Center campus, featuring improvised dialogue, sculptural elements, and site-responsive actions — the visible outcome of their around-the-clock process. The performance responds to the architecture of both the Getty Center and the Japan Pavilion in Venice, while also reflecting the invisible, continuous labor of caregiving.

Co-produced by the Getty Museum and the Japan Foundation, the project is part of the museum’s ongoing "Ever Present" performance series. FXR will present two performances at the Japan Pavilion during the opening week of the Venice Biennale on May 8 and May 10, 2026.
