Tim Crowley @Tiderip, London

Solo Exhibition "Odysseus Jr."

BANK is thrilled to announce that Tim Crowley’s upcoming solo exhibition Odysseus Jr. will be on view at Tiderip Gallery, London, from 29 April to 30 May 2026.

Marking Crowley’s return to London after three decades abroad, the exhibition brings together six paintings that closely evoke the visual language of 1950s and 1960s Pop Art, with bold color and striking text. Conceived as imagined exhibition posters, these works are set on a parallel planet, New Earth, at least one hundred years in the future, and unfold across fictional locations. Yet on closer view, their painterly brushwork distinguishes them from their commercial references.

Though the juxtaposition of elements resists immediate contextual clarity, the works function as a genuine archive of Crowley’s interests and lived experience. For the artist, they operate as a form of self-portraiture, projecting identity into speculative futures with a sense of sweet absurdity. The dissonant combination of images produces estrangement while inviting curiosity, reinforcing the fictional atmosphere of the exhibition.

Emerging from a fractured sense of self shaped by prolonged cultural and geographical displacement, Crowley’s New Earth becomes a provisional space in which identity, place, and time may be reconfigured. Drawing on his longstanding engagement with the art world as artist, journalist, curator, and educator, as well as his interest in posters and advertising, Crowley adopts the formats and conventions of the art system to construct an alternative reality from within. As the exhibition suggests, this is not simply a story of return, but of returning transformed through the experience of drifting between worlds.
