Zheng Haozhong 郑皓中 China, b. 1985

Zheng Haozhong (b.1985, Rizhao) lives and works in Shanghai. He is an artist and writer.

Zheng Haozhong's paintings complement his literary works and improvisational music in his artistic practice. His paintings deconstruct, reconstruct, and fuse elements such as familiar friends, objects that have been part of his indoor environment for a long time, and landscapes that evoke empathy within his vision. They construct the artist's outward expressions.

His solo exhibitions include “Melodic Variations”, Blindspot Gallery (2023), “Indoor Enclosure, Sub-Alto Saxophone, Drum Roll, Saw, Voice Silence Turns into A Major Musical Phrase”, BANK/MABSOCIETY, Shanghai (2023), "13854", Gallery Weekend Beijing (2021), "TAKI", BANK/MABSOCIETY, Shanghai (2019), and "Sun shining on Zhujiajiao", KWM artcenter, Beijing (2018).

He won the Grand Prize in the 2014 John Moores Painting Prize (China), and the winning work has been exhibited at the National Museums Liverpool in the UK, as well as toured in Beijing, Shanghai, Macau, and other places. Zheng Haozhong has also published novels under the pen name "Li Cha (李察)," is a member of the Dolphy Kick Bebop band, and joined the Shanghai Free Music Collective in 2023.
