Public Art & Panel: "Is Blue the Color of the Ocean?"

Bony Ramirez's new public artwork Is Blue the Color of the Ocean? will be unveiled during Miami Art Week. is a large upright circle composed of fiberglass silver coconuts and a single gold-colored conch shell. The sculpture has a double meaning, representing both the ubiquitous necklaces circulating throughout the Caribbean via tourist shops and street vendors and a mythical portal transporting people between two worlds.

The unveiling of the work will be followed by an open-air panel discussion moderated by Jane Wooldridge (Senior Director of the Miami Herald) with Bony Ramirez, Jennifer Farah (Director of Arts, The John S. and James L. Knight Foundation), and Adeze Wilford (Curator at MOCA North Miami).
