BANK is pleased to announce that Shi Hui ’s Alternative Form of Writing is featured in the Wuhan Biennale 2024. The work was created in 2022, the artist uses a compilation of fibers to emulate Chinese cursive script, where two-dimensional writing is transformed into spatial sculpture, while the texture of the fibers enhances the fluidity of the calligraphy's spillover.
Titled “Urban Fluidity”, the Wuhan Biennale 2024 aims to foster a deeper connection between Wuhan's cultural fabric and urban temperament. It interprets Wuhan's hydrological characteristics and contemporary cultural attributes through the concepts of "flow" and "flux". This embodies the continuity and progression of the Wuhan Biennale in terms of cultural focus and academic distinctiveness.
