Ching Ho Cheng @Addison Gallery of American Art, Massachusetts, USA

Group Exhibition "Free Association: New Acquisitions in Context"
Ching Ho Cheng’s gouache painting Untitled (1980) from his Window Series has been acquired by the Addison Gallery of American Art. It is now on display in conjunction with the museum’s permanent collection. The Window Series are inspired by his apartment window while living at New York's legendary Hotel Chelsea.  Cheng desired  to capture and depict a “breath of light” in these works as a mediative source.

The Addison’s permanent collection has grown exponentially since the museum opened its doors in 1931. Their founding collection comprised some 400 works including masterpieces by Thomas Eakins, Winslow Homer, and James McNeill Whistler. The 25,000 objects now in the collection convey an expansive and nuanced picture of the American experience from the 18th century to the present.
