Ching Ho Cheng @Smithsonian American Art Museum, Washington DC, USA

Group Exhibition "American Voices and Visions"
BANK is pleased to announce Ching Ho Cheng’s Kiss is currently on exhibition at the Smithsonian American Art Museum,  in American Voices and Visions. This newly acquired acquisition from SAAM is  the  only institution thus far that holds a complete representation from the artist’s four periods of work, including his prints.

Kiss was created in 1971 which is considered the artist's earliest work, his  Psychedelics, three additional periods follow, his Gouache, Torn and Alchemical Works. After graduating from the Cooper Union School of Art in the late sixties, Ching Ho Cheng began his dynamic Psychedelic series using gouache and ink as a medium. He was greatly inspired by the spiritual symbolism in Tibetan art as well as other explorations of the subconscious that were popular during that time. These intricate surrealistic works explore the fantastical realms of the mind and spirit using the dharma as its leading referent.
