Ching Ho Cheng @Fleiss-Vallois, New York, USA

Group Exhibition "I remember you well in the Chelsea Hotel..."
BANK is pleased to announce that in conjunction with the presentation at Art Basel Miami Beach, artist Ching Ho Chenge's work is featured in the Fleiss-Vallois Gallery’s New York exhibition I Remember You Well at the Chelsea Hotel…, alongside Robert Morris, Bruce Nauman, Robert Rauschenberg, Niki de Saint Phalle, Andy Warhol and other artists.

Ching Ho Cheng's exhibited work Waterfall, Chelsea Hotel, New York (1978) shifts attention away from symbolic subject matter and offers an intimate view of the artist’s bathroom. Water is here depicted as both essential to life and capable of whittling it away.

As an iconic landmark, Chelsea Hotel holds within it a treasure trove of artworks and artifacts, some which have hung on the walls of the eccentric building for several decades. It was Philip Hubert, a founder of the architectural firm, who brought the Chelsea Hotel to life in the mid-1880s. Hubert was an avid follower of Charles Fourier, a French philosopher who imagined various forms of utopian socialism. Since its opening in 1884, the hotel has lived by that philosophy, and has not only been a temporary lodging, but a lifelong home engendering a belief system and a gathering place of candid thought and creation for so many artists, writers, and cultural influencers.
