Lu Yang is presenting the solo exhibition DOKU The Flow at Shenzhen K11 HACC, showcasing the latest video work from the DOKU series, produced with special support from the Fondation Louis Vuitton. The exhibition will take place at the highly anticipated Shenzhen K11 ECOAST, a new landmark in the city. Coinciding with its official inauguration, the exhibition marks the premiere of DOKU The Flow in China.
Building on Lu Yang’s enduring fascination with the digitization of the human body and psyche, the artist uses their own body as the template for this virtual human, whose "memories" form the core of this new chapter. DOKU The Flow draws inspiration from the Buddhist philosophy of Madhyamaka, which posits that all phenomena lack "nature," "substance," or "essence." Through non-linear, intricately crafted 3D animation sequences, Lu Yang’s DOKU traverses digital skins, transcending conventional reality to reach the ultimate truth of emptiness (śūnyatā).
