Liang Hao’s works Like Silk and Liquid and Flame and Chen Ruofan’s works Dust (still frame 191F) and The minutiae of Melting ice (oct13) are currently on display at Perrotin Shanghai’s exhibition “The Cloud Catcher.” Drawing inspiration from Charles Baudelaire’s prose poem ‘The Stranger’ (1962), which was published in Le Melancholie de Paris, the exhibition includes 18 artists from different generations and backgrounds who respond to the gesture of targeting implied by the ‘cloud catcher’ by breaking through the dichotomy between figuration and abstraction in a way that confirms the fluidity of self-positioning.
