As the planet’s early warning system, the Arctic is warming three times faster than the global average, with sea ice coverage hitting its lowest levels since 1850. Scientific projections indicate a largely ice-free Arctic summer may arrive before 2050. Two main processes drive this crisis: surface ice melting and basal sliding, where glaciers accelerate and calve massive icebergs into the sea, threatening meters of sea-level rise.

The video work arctic dystopia documents a 2022 expedition, capturing drones navigating blue crevasses and narrow ice passages before witnessing a glacier’s catastrophic collapse. Its soundscape layers deep bass waves with industrial mechanical sounds, exposing the deadly interplay between ice loss and global industrialization. This work strips away the Arctic’s aesthetic allure to reveal a frozen epitaph for Earth’s collapsing equilibrium.
