Chen Yujun 陈彧君 China, b. 1976

Chen Yujun (b. 1976, Putian, Fujian Province), graduated from Department of mixed media Art of China Academy of Fine Arts in 1999, taught mixed media and oil painting in Chinese Academy of Fine Arts from 1999 to 2004, and now lives and works in Shanghai.

In the past decade, Chen’s work focuses on the conflicts between the inner-self and the external influences. He attempts to examine how the individuals from contemporary Asian countries face their own fragmented and shifting identities under the influence of globalization and its evolving cultural position. Among his works, the most well-known series is the Temporary Family, on-going since 2010.

 

Chen Yujun’s work has been exhibited at many galleries and museums in Beijing, Shanghai, Los Angeles and etc. His work has also been included in collections such as Brooklyn Museum, USA; White Rabbit Gallery, Australia; M+ Museum, Hong Kong; DSL Collection, France; Yuz Foundation, Indonesia; Long Museum, China; He Xiangning Art Museum, China; ARARIO Museum, Korea etc.
