2025 Tokyo Gendai: DOKU, Liang Hao, Michael Lin, Bony Ramirez, Wang Rui

At this year's Tokyo Gendai, BANK presents a thematic group exhibition investigating mediated corporeal experience and the reconfiguration of historical narratives, featuring works by DOKU, Liang Hao, Michael Lin, Bony Ramirez, and Wang Rui.

The mysterious digital avatar DOKU is a fusion of Buddhist philosophy, neuroscience, and modern technology, achieving a form of cybernetic reincarnation through ever-shifting digital skins. 

Liang Hao centers manual gesture in his practice, reconstructing art historical imagery through technological illusions to examine the interplay between manual technique and affective consciousness. 

Michael Lin's expansive painting installations worldwide appropriate historically significant textile patterns, transforming painted surfaces into inhabitable social spaces.

Hailing from the Dominican Republic, Bony Ramirez situates Caribbean-imbued figures within symbolic environments, inviting viewers to confront obscured racial histories.

Wang Rui employs graphite drawing to deconstruct materiality, establishing phenomenological connections between consciousness and the body through mark-making.
