13854

13854 is the barcode of a tree in Liverpool. When I first met it in 2014, I was immediately intrigued. I painted this tree, thinking that I would see it again after two years, since I planned to exhibit my works in the U.K. in 2016. However, my life turned upside down, and I experienced huge changes in those two years. When I returned to this tree once again, I felt that the barcode was embedded in my life as a serial number of destiny. This tree, thus, becomes a beginning. The leaves scattered around the grass resemble my artworks. I cannot tell which leaf fell from a which branch, but I know for sure that they all departed from this very tree.

Michael Najjar
outer space

Michael Najjar’s outer space series examines the latest international developments in space exploration and the way that these advancements have and continue to shape our future life on earth and beyond. Through immaculate, large-scale photo compositions and 3D simulated videos, Najjar takes a complex and critical look at the technological forces that are transforming our relationship with the galaxy and the 21st Century. Our impulse to explore the stars bears witness to humankind’s innate sense of curiosity and unquenchable desire to transcend our frontiers. Najjar’s work masterfully profiles the imagination, technology and science that is propelling us into the galaxies. On this special occasion, BANK is delighted to announce the release of the new exclusive outer space portfolio box of the artist, who will be the 1st artist in the outer space.
