Artist collective PSFO’s video work WHIP IT was exhibited at the 10th Asia NOW’s video section. In this video, A male dressed in a typical business suit stands atop a large, blue, wood pedestal that is placed in the center of UCCA’s Nave Gallery. This man, armed with a leather whip, paced back and forth in an improvisational manner atop this pedestal and whipped the surrounding walls of UCCA. The performance lasted one to two hours, opened to public viewing, and was filmed with professional lighting from multiple angles. It concluded when the performer was physically exhausted. Afterward, the pedestal and damaged walls remained as part of the installation, with the film being shown inside the gallery. Polit-Sheer-Form Office (PSFO) video installation work was first featured in Asia NOW 2015 edition with BANK.
The guest curatorial team for Asia NOW is Radicants, an international curatorial cooperative founded by Nicolas Bourriaud, who will transform the Monnaie de Paris into a vibrant and immersive space, presenting a unique ceremonial experience through elements like performing arts, videos, dancing, music, oral tradition, and oblation. From everyday cooking rituals to the communal revelry of festive occasions, the exhibition will unfold at the Monnaie de Paris, blending sacred and secular elements.
